A Golden Night at the 2020 Knight of Jewels Gala

On Saturday, February 8, IC Catholic Prep hosted its Annual Knight of Jewels Gala. It was a ‘Golden Knight’ in honor of the 50th Celebration of this uniquely IC Catholic Prep fundraising event. The evening was hosted at the Chicago Marriott Oak Brook.

The evening began with a gold carpet entrance to a cocktail hour for arriving guests who were graced by the sounds of the IC Catholic Prep Guitar Ensemble.

This year’s keynote speaker was Emilio Ortega, a senior and member of the Class of 2020. In his four years at IC Catholic Prep, Emilio is a senior newspaper editor and columnist for the Knight Times, member of the National Honor Society, the Spanish National Honor Society, and the WYSE team (now Academic Challenge in Engineering and Science). He has performed for over three years in the Knights Theater program, played guitar with ICCP’s Advanced Guitar Ensemble, and has competed as a four-year Varsity athlete in bass fishing.

In his remarks, Emilio was quick to point out that IC Catholic Prep is a successful learning community because it is a place of caring, creativity, support, independent thinking and, above all, where the teachers embody and live our mission in their daily interactions with students.

The Knight of Jewels is our largest fundraiser of the year, providing alumni, benefactors, families, friends and the community an opportunity to enjoy a remarkable evening while raising funds for the school. Proceeds from this event will help to transform the lives of our students through enhanced academic and extracurricular programs, updated technology throughout the campus, and professional development of the faculty and staff.

This year’s event, chaired by Steve and Gretchen Meurer, Jamie and Shani Liszka, Michael and Jen Hall, and Nick and Lara Zanoni, included a live auction and a Fund a Knight paddle raise. You can continue to support our school and students by giving to the Annual Fund.
